How much should I expect to buy one of these used? Say in .270 or .243 calibers?

I have some here locally and they have a cheapo scope on them selling for $200.

I dont want to buy them unless its a "deal" otherwise I will be patient and wait on a deal.

$200-$300 depending on how pretty the stock is, is what I've seen.

I bought one last fall for $175.00 with the prettiest stock I've seen. Mine's chambered in .223 however, but it did come with Simmons scope.

After 50 rounds it gave up the ghost. Hammer will not drop hard enough to fire a round. Gunsmith time.

The handi rifle in a .243 is hard to beat! I've had mine for eighteen years now, it was my first rifle, and I still like to shoot it now just as much as I did then.

$200 is about on par. If you are buying to flip them you wont make much profit. If I were looking for one to keep for myself, I wouldn't mind paying $200.

well. . .you can find all kinds of youth stocks for
handi rifles or find a rough used one and cut it to
what ever length you want and put any kind of
recoil pad you want.

one thing about it. once you get one scoped and sighted
and a pet load for it, your son has something he can use
for his life. there's every kind of adult sized stocks
and forearms you can think of. boyd's used to have a
big selection. choate still has quite a few.

handi rifles are about all i use anymore

Had one with 3 barrels. 22lr, 20ga and 270. The shotgun and rifle packed a wallop but never had issue with them

Side note, sold the combo for $280

Gave $150 for this one, put an old school Weaver 3-9x on top.

200 dollars for one with a scope is a decent deal. If the gun is in Good condition. I have several and do have one in .243. I enjoy shooting it and my young nephews hunt with it. I like them using the single shot for safety reasons.

I didn't think you could use the receiver for shotgun barrels and rifle barrels.

You can on the SB2 (center fire) receivers. You can't go to a center fire barrel on the shotgun receivers.

you can put any barrel on an SB-2 receiver if it fits.
it's able to handle higher pressure rifle rounds.
an SB-1 shotgun type receiver will only handle shotgun
and lower pressure handgun and rifle rounds.

I only had one in .22-250 and a buddy had an identical one, his shot 1" groups, mine never did group, tried all kinds of ammo and had a nice Leupold on it, the scope was worth twice what the rifle was, I got rid of it. also sometimes when it fired, it would break open on its own, didn't like that. I am lucky to own some real nice firearms and don't seem to sound like a snob, but basically you get what you pay for.
