Where have they gone? My experience with trail/game cameras in past is that I got longer battery life with C Cell than with the AA Batt. Have searched the web and none to be found.

The cheap tasco cameras use c cell. They suck on battery life though

Not sure how far back is, "in the past," but I have found that most of the current AA cameras have much longer battery life than the old C cameras I have had.

My brother gave me one when he was cleaning out crap. Bought c cells. Didn't work. It's strapped to the fence pointed at the back corner of my utility easement. Part of my "psychological warfare" against trespassers/criminals. It's HUUUUGE.

Thanks for the input guys. Agree that many of the new game cameras are great. Certainly hate to depart with a C note for a game camera when all I want to get is a picture critter hitting my feeders. My experience with battery life in Bushnell Trophy AA batt just did not have a decent life, as my Wildgame which used C Cell batt. I have had Wildgame C Cells for 6 yrs and still have 2 that work just fine. My take is that using AA batts enables mfg to reduce size of camera (ergo lower production packaging cost). Yep I still have one of the Boxy cameras that Moultrie and it still making good picture.

I have a couple of Moultries that run off of C's. They do seem to run a while compared to the double A's. After a round of battery changing and checking one thing I've determined I need to do. Install some solar panels with rechargeables where I'm able to.

Yeah, maybe solar panels are the way you need to go versus going with C cells. However, AA cameras have come a long way of late.

I agree some of the older C cell cameras lasted a very long time (over a year on my old Moultrie @ 15K pictures), but I think it had a little to do with picture sizes being so much smaller. My old camera says it was a 5 mega pixel and I'd almost bet it was actually 1 mega pixel.

One reason is because everyone is making cameras smaller and smaller

The AA Cameras are cheaper to run for sure. I've got both now, I just bought a couple news one this weekend that run off AA's so I will compare them to my old Moultries with the C Cells soon.
You can run but you can't hide...

Not sure how far back is, "in the past," but I have found that most of the current AA cameras have much longer battery life than the old C cameras I have had. Same here. The new lithium batteries will last a season or two.

Battery life depends greatly on camera activity and obviously battery quality. Even lithium batteries struggle to make it 8 months @ a rate of 3K pictures monthly.
