I love Mumme's apple scented corn, but not because of the smell. I don't think the scent makes any difference at all, but it's the cleanest corn I've found and they do extensive afflatoxin testing.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

I don't think it helps.....but what could it hurt? However, to be honest, I have had chances to buy it and have always passed for just good old plain corn.

The places I have hunted south.....the deer would walk past the regular corn to eat the Mumme's corn. Im a big believer in it for hand corning or when setting up a new feeder. Of course nothing beats Indian corn.

I have not had any luck with the walmart apple scented corn. My feeders would go almost untouched by dseer when I had that out. never filled the feeders with it though, they were used to corn/soy mix, so the difference in smell might have freaked out the deer. I did hunt in a very timid deer area, anything would set them off it seemed, so I stopped doing the apple scented corn.

rtp has it right....good ol indian corn. Man that is good stuff!
I love the smell of mumme's. I haven't noticed a difference either way so I just go with the cheaper.
I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.

I notice no difference between scented/non scented as far as preference for the deer. Like others have said the mummies apple corn has always been very clean and it comes in good sacks. If its same price ill grab it. A lot of times its cheaper at HEB than regular corn at a feed store.

Where I hunt The deer wouldn't touch it, they don't know what apples are, there's none growing there. I learned the lesson the hard way in 2003 bought a whole pallet at discount of apple scented corn got harassed by my buddies on the lease because the deer wouldn't touch it. Hogs, coons and tree rats loved it! Unless you've got apple orchards close by DON'T do it!!!!!

I bought the HEB apple flavored corn but I added a couple of packets of "Come here deer" powder with the corn. I filled up a feeder with it and had another feeder 100 yards away with plain Lyssy & Eckel corn. The deer were eating the apple corn with powder like crazy and hardly touching the "plain" corn. This was just south of San Antonio. Who knows???

Seemed to make no difference to my coons, hogs, wood rats...oh, and deer too. So why pay the extra $1.

In a word no. I would save the dollar and buy a lottery ticket. That has a lot better odds of helping your hunting than artificial Apple scented corn.

I have found they like cut up apples and dabs of peanut butter. if you can find any peanut farmers buy some toe sacks of them, they like them to and cotton seed mill, and some rice mill, we even used carrots, they ate up the carrots fast. we tried different stuff in different areas to see what they responded to the best. pretty interesting results over the years.
I would like to figure out how to shake and gather acorns like the pecan guys do and grind them up in a mill with the rice and salt mill, could be good.

I've been feeding the same corn for 36 years now with great success. But for $1.00 with all you have invested in hunting, I'd try it. One year I set up 2 feeders at my blind, one with Indian corn, and the other with regular corn. The deer would eat the Indian corn 1st every time then go to the standard corn. So now my sausage factory is flawless as the deer stay at my feeder longer allowing me to select the ones I want for sausage.
I Feed Indian Corn. The deer love it and all the colors make them stay at the feeder longer.

Deer get used to what you are feeding them. If you feed apple corn and switch they will walk around looking for the scented corn. Same if you start using scented corn. I have seen deer spook from it. I use a road feeder and like the scented corn for that fact that I can move the deer around into areas where my scent does not effect the hunt. The deer can find it really quickly. As far as paying more for it, that is not the case down in South Texas. Especially not a $1 more. If you are buying from Mumme's, they will only sell scented corn and it is a price cheaper than most sell unscented corn for down here. I have seen other scented corn around the state...acorn, orange, ect. and not sure if they work the same or not. If you need an extra attractant, put on a few drops of Vanilla Extract. Then use some as a cover scent while you hunt.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?
