I have trapped for quite a long time. However I have never learned how to finish the furs. I know how to skin them. I will be trapping in north Texas as well as Nebraska. I live in Buda Texas and am willing to trade furs for knowledge on how to finish them. Meaning you keep the furs and I supply the labor. Could be coons, Bobcats, beaver, coyotes. Is there someone near that is interested?
Isn't the best way to save face to keep the lower part shut?

If you feel like comin down to corpus this winter id be happy to help you out some, I flesh and dry a couple thousand pelts a year, YouTube videos of fleshing and proper boarding will help get your basic techniques down. Matt jones has a good video on fur handling, little dated but it's good. Nothing will teach you more than experience, proper pressure of you knife and angles and little tricks that only you can really teach yourself. Feel free to give me a shout anytime and I'd be happy to talk you through things or answer any questions

I never tanned any but skinned and fleshed many a fur. I used a draw shave for fleshing and a fleshing beam and used stetchers for drying.Wish u were closer.
