We had a great Labor Day weekend in Kimble county. The birds were not very cooperative so we decided to see what the swine population was up to. My wife decided that she would sacrifice one morning of sleeping in (rare days when a 10 month old is present) to try her luck pig hunting. We got to the ranch with 20 minutes to get her set up in the blind. She was in the blind maybe 10 minutes when I hear her .22-250 bark and my phone dings with the "Piggy Down!!" text. Not 10 minutes more go by the .22-250 has claimed another victim. She shot both of her pigs(bottom picture) in a total of 30 minutes in a blind.

That same evening I talked my non-hunting Mother in Law into going on a hunt with me (middle picture). We made it to a different blind and got set up and 15 minutes later we had our first customers of the evening. Two juvenile boars came in and began to feed. I told her to get ready and get comfortable with a shot, but she was having trouble. Needless to say she was nervous and rushed her shot and missed. I asked "what happened?" She replies "I closed my eyes when I pulled the trigger" LOL. We sat for another 10-15 minutes before a sounder made their way in. She had a small piglet picked out and was about ready to shoot, but out of nowhere "momma" decided to show up, so I suggested we wait and take out the wet sow instead of a baby at the moment. Well after waiting for our shot and watching the sow fight off five juvenile strangers we got finally got it. I told her not to close her eyes and watch the impact this time. Well.....this time it was bang, flop! The .22-250 was at it again!. She dropped that big sow like a sack of potatoes and I proceeded to take two of the piglets on the run with my newly assembled 6x6.8 wildcat AR-15.

We had a great day of hunting and I truly enjoy witnessing someone take their first animal. I think she's hooked on hog hunting now!

Total of 5 pigs down between Sunday morning and Sunday night and all pig were DRT. No tracking involved.

That'll work. I need to put a dent in our hog population.
