I have better luck finding a doe in heat and letting her give off the scent.

a mock scrape works great with a drip back of buck sent. Don't forget to add a little Tinks 69 every now and then into the scrape.

Keep the does around a food source and they and the bucks will leave enough scent to increase your success.

I use estrus during the right time of year and do get results... it sure dosnt hurt anything unless you overdue it or use it non stop or during wrong time of year

Had a big whitetail come in at a trot, nose to the ground when I was using doe estrus. I was in a climbing stand way up high. I made little rockets of toilet paper, dipped it in the doe pee, and tossed them on the ground around my stand. The buck came in right at dusk crosswind and stopped in his tracks when he got down wind. I thought he winded me until he came right in almost under my stand. He is now in my living room.
“He grouped his last five shots right in the center of the bull’s-eye. Then I showed him my technique of scattering shots randomly around the target because, as I explained, you never know which way the deer might jump just as you pull the trigger.”

I believe that scents are good when used correctly and at the right time of the year. I do use James Valley every once in a while. Ive been know to throw a little tinks out. Killed my very 1st buck over tinks but he was a 90" 7 pt that wasn't mature whatsoever.
Other than that, I have never used a scent successfully.
I honestly think that more often than not, they do more harm than good.

I've taken a few bucks on public land using trails end. I've had them become real aggressive or maybe amorous, depending on your point of view. grin
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

I've never shot a buck using scent but when i discovered buck bomb doe estrus I had a field day killing doe. I had several come right up to the can I dropped below my stand
