Dang water turkeys are killing every tree on the lake.

These pictures were all taken within 50 yards of each other

It's not legal but shooting them is about the only thing that works. They will do a pretty good number on the fish populations as well. Worthless bird.

Is it a private lake? I seem to remember something about being able to get a permit if they are destructive to ag production. Probably just fish farms or something not sure.

Not so simple anymore. Now you have to apply for the permit through USFWS. I don't want to give the feds any reason to mess with me.

Nuisance, but we used to catch a lot of catfish with red wigglers right under the trees. The fish I guess thought it was another water turkey crapping!

I do the same, but with a freelined (weightless) chicken gizzard. Call it 'splat fishing' as the gizzard makes a splat noise jus tlike one those nasty bastages taking a crap.

I have caught fish before that were injured from them... Took me a while figure out what it was, they chase them and hook them with their nasty beak.
