My first carry load (in 9mm).

I like them but their reputation is worse than reality. I did some testing with 10mm Talons along with 5 or 6 other loads and I would rank the over all performance in the 10mm as average at best. Expansion was beautiful with very sharp "Talons" but penetration and visual target impact were lacking. The absolute best 10mm load I have tested so far is a Cor-Bon DPX with the copper Barnes HP bullet. That bullet was head and shoulders above anything else I have tested and I have never been a fan of mono metal bullets at all but that's my honest take on what I have seen.

I have never tested them in 45 though.

I have shot the .45 Black Talon into a pool of water and it has perfect mushroom and 99% weight retention, see the claws all the way around the fired bullets. In the pic, the right 3 bullets are from the .45 with Black Talon and the left two bullets are from the .41 Magnum 210 grain XTP launched at 1675 fps out of a 6 inch barrel. The far left was recovered from the far hide on the rear leg of a 360 pound hog that I shot into the cheek and traveled the length of it to the back leg at 15 yards.
