I have been looking for a shotgun for my 8 year old son. Does anyone have any reviews on it or best place to get one?

Academy has em. They're like 289. I've been on the fence myself about getting my son one

I would go with the tried and true Remington 870, really the best pump shotgun at that price point.

We have the 510 my 9 year old likes it was the only one she could hold up and operate. Safety was an issue. For a youth gun it was tight I got blisters trying take it off safety took it to a gunsmith 25 bucks problem solved

I bought my son the 20ga version when he was about 7. The gun is extremely light and kicks like a mule. It functions fine but the recoil is just too much for most kids of that age, in my opinion.

Is there a better option out there? The youth guns are still a little to big for him to handle

I'd recommend the Bantam in .410. They have interchangeable stock extensions that let the gun grow with the kid. The 870 youth was just too long for my son when he was younger. He went from the 20ga Bantam to a Remington 1100 in 12ga and was happy to not get kicked as hard!
