Worked in Oslo for a year, one of the prettiest countries I've ever been to. Sucks seeing that image.

Not really a freak of nature, though this was on the large side. It happens. Lightning strikes the earth about 100 times a second. In the lower 48 states, lightning strikes about 20,000,000 times a year.
