Well, I don't hunt doves. I missed my regular Wednesday night hunt because Mr. TBR (the rancher) said it was raining. So I went Thursday night and when I arrived, it was raining. Sheesh. However, I had seen hogs just down the road and so I waited until there was a break in the rain and then made my way to the stand. After only being in the stand for an hour or so, this boar showed up ...

Did you notice the big raccoon come running down the trunk of that tree on the RH side of the screen?

Nice going. The ol' TBPS is probably engraving a plaque in honor of Angry Bird's buddy. Looked like that raccoon decided he needed to be somewhere else, fast!
I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

Yeah, that raccoon was probably a little freaked out by what was going on. Usually, they don't flee the trees when they get scared.

Good job. Glad you were able to get out and do some hunting on dove opener, I had to work all day yesterday I was surprised the second shot connected, it looked like you pulled it a little, but it did. I hate stanky, tick covered hogs. They get donated all the time on my place. Don't last long usually.

Here is the last frame as the shot breaks. I am zeroed at 100 yards and he is at about 110 here. It was a bit of a lucky shot. He could have veered slightly right and I would have missed. I was attempting to lead him as he ran away and left. That was after I started to lead him to the right after he emerged from the tree. You got a long weekend coming up - plenty of time to hunt! Mr. TBR went dove hunting after work and had a great time. It rained the whole time and their truck got stuck in the mud. About a mile of walking to get the other truck and they were out of light. They did bag a few birds between the vehicles.

I know you were trying to lead him, but as you said he was going right and then turned straight and was slightly headed left but I didn't feel the amount of left movement warranted such a big lead, matter of opinion only, as you scored a hit and that dropped him and that's all that matters!! Was good to be able to pick him up from behind that brush and then adjust from the right movement to left. That probably warranted the left lead as much as anything else. One of those feel things that we all get with experience and you obviously have it!! Again, good job and I only hope to be able to someday match your skills. On a side note, this weekend would be perfect for hunting hogs at my Place except for some reason my MIL decided to be born 60 years ago this Monday, which has prompted numerous celebrations to be taken place this weekend....thus, mounting for me
