Sold my place and wondered what to do in the intern until I get my new place built. In the planning stages now and probably be a year until I get the built in safes to store. Thought about selling but decided to keep um. Storing with family is out of the question. Inquiring minds want to know!

Anything that's not in the safe gets put in silicone gun socks after a good wipe-down with a good oil.

I will soon be in a similar situation so watching intently.

When I moved back to Texas from Seattle, I got several wardrobe moving boxes and put all my long guns in gun cases and stored in there while I was moving back. Marked each box as some kind of furniture to avoid tipping anyone as to the contents. This was just for transit and not storage though so likely not applicable in your case.

I've been a part of several gun clubs that have lockers that members can rent to store firearms. Never took advantage of the service but I could see where it might be a nice option. I believe Dallas Gun Club offers lockers to its members.

I also hunted with a guy last fall that keeps a gun "on pawn" at a local pawn shop year round in South Dakota...only take it out of pawn for a few bird hunts a year. He claims the interest charges amount to about what a checked bag fee would cost him and it's protected in the shops safe and by their insurance...not sure I'd go this route but it seemed to work for him.

I also know that some banks have glorified safe-deposit boxes that are quite large. I think the designed purpose is to store art. Might be worth investigating. I hesitate to think what it might cost and what logistics would be involved with walking into a bank with a firearm but it could be an option.

I'm not really sure what I'd do in your situation. Maybe one of the newer, nice, indoor storage units that are monitored closely? Kinda depends on how nice your guns are too. Some of mine I'd have no problem leaving them in a storage unit.

I broke down and bought a small, un-insulated safe for storage between apartment and house. I didn't have all that many firearms but it was fairly easy to drag it up the two flights of stairs and store in the apartment. I didn't transport in the safe when I moved, but at least they were somewhere locked up.

I have a membership and mainly use the free cleanings for Auto Shotguns(extended tubes are a pain) and maybe a occasional AR when I come back from super dusty environments. You could leave them there I am sure for a fee.

What about one of those condition storage units, put gun safe inside bolt to floor. When move cut bolts off flush to floor. Might ask manager first.

Some nice guns stores offer firearm storage. I know Carter's Country in Houston does.

Rent climate controlled storage and bolt a safe or two to the floor. Haul everything in early in the morning in moving boxes or under clothes to disguise

A lot of modern concrete is poured with cable instead of rebar. You drill into one of those cables and break it, and there's a LOT of repair work to be done because they are under tension and will break up 20+ feet of concrete in a large slab. Definitely talk to a manager before drilling holes in some else's slab.

He would only be drilling a few inches deep, I would think cable would be 6 inches or more below the surface.
