Now that sounds like a good topic to go along with your first caliber topic. BB and pellet guns not included of course.

I actually still have my first gun which my dad bought me when I was 12 to go dove hunting and it is a single shot Stevens 410. I havent fired it since 1983-4. Being the first day of dove season I should go test it out.

What was your first ever gun?

Great Grandpa's Ivory Johnson Champion 20ga. He gave it to me when I was 3. I still remember that day and still have the gun. I have had it 50 years now.

My grandpa gave me his Champion too, but in a 12. It wasn't until he passed away though.

My first real rifle. It was stolen when I was away in boot camp. Found it again many years later in a pawn shop. It's a factory sporterized .303 British Enfield.

Remington 514 single shot .22 with 4x scope. BDay 54 years ago. It still gets to play with a squirrel every now and then. P_102

Savage single shot .410. I still remember going over to the Western Auto in Olney with my dad to buy it. That was 42 years ago and that little shotgun still gets a workout.

Lol...We got a lot in common. H&R single shot .410 for Christmas in '84. I was 11. Still have it in great shape and it's now my sons. He shot it last year for the first time and I think he's hooked. Going out Saturday to make some memories!

J.C. Higgins (Marlin) .22 bolt action, purchased at Sears in 1958 with money I had earned from my paper route, shoveling snow, cutting grass, etc. Still have it. My kids all learned to shoot with it.

H&R 410 single shot. My uncle bought and dad cut the stock down to about 6" long. First time I shot it killed a rabbit and got a bloody nose. I was 3 years old. Still have the gun. It hasn't been shot in years.

My first shot gun was a Sears & Roebuck 410 single shot, but had a 3 shell clip. Love that gun.

New England firearms single shot .410 I got on my 7th birthday just before dove season started in 1994. I didn't do very good that year but still have it and always will.

Bolt Action .410 when I was 5. We had a place in Emory and me & Dad were headed there to meet some buddies of his for the weekend, he was telling me about how they were going to shoot some skeet and I asked him, what am I going to shoot with? We stopped at a gun shop in Rockwall and he bought it for me. I still have it.

Marlin Model 60 in .22LR bought by my uncle at a garage sale for $10. Was in rough shape then, but ran literally 1,000's of rounds through it.

Bought my kids a new version of the same gun, and that's what they will learn on.

Parents gave me a Mossberg 500A for my 13th birthday. Used it some last year for dove. 10000+ rounds through it without a problem.

Stevens Springfield Model 15, single shot, bolt action, .22. Still in the family since new in about 1940. Original scope.

See this other post (where I also listed the above rifle)...

The first firearm I bought myself was either a Ruger 10-22 or a Ruger P97DC. Still have both.
