Please, do not skewer me over this, but I'm looking for tips on cooking a part of a beef brisket in a crock pot overnight.

The wife is on this "blood type diet" and her's calls for a lot of meat, especially beef. She likes brisket tacos and brisket salad and told me that's what she wants to take to work for lunch.

Now, right now I have neither the time nor the desire to smoke a whole brisket. So I have a big crock pot and I thought I could put about 1/3 of a brisket in there and let it cook all night and in the morning she can pull it apart and take some with here each day this week.

This is what I'm thinking about doing: slather the brisket in Tex-Joy and set it in the crock pot with a some Coca-Cola and let it go 10 hours on low.

What do you think?

I think it would be more of a roast not brisket but everything I throw in a crock pot for a few hours ends up great.

I'd have never thought about doing it...but it looks like you can.

That recipe seems to have the most positive reviews.

Good luck.

Same as pulled pork from pork but in a slow cooker;

If you have the big one with metal bottom, put the meat in dry, brown the bottom first; then add broth and spices, or fresh peppers and onions, hatch green chilis are in season too

Google "Sweet Tea Brisket". It usually turns out pretty good.

Use a cooking bag and liquid smoke.

No,no, no. Don't you dare. Put the meat in a cooking bag and put the cooking bag in a pan in the oven. Try onion soup mix over it.

Salt it real good, throw about 5 bay leaves on it and wrap it in foil. Cook for about 12 hours, overnight. Have tortillas and salsa ready in the morning for barbacoa.

Google "Mexican pulled roast slow cooker". you should get a bunch of recipes. Our recipe is basically a can or 2 of Rotel chilis, salt and pepper, cumin and a little chili powder.

Yep Mexicans cook it like that. Use Claudes marinade to cook it in in either the crock pot or in the oven covered all night. It shreds up nicely for tacos etc.

You can buy slow cooker liners at grocery store. It is like a cooking bag but it lines the inside of the crock pot. Cooks great cleanup easy.

Don't see why it would not be good. Do pork loin all the time for pulled pork sandwiches.

All good ideas. Before putting it in the crock, I would first sear it in a cast iron skillet.

crock pot liner bags work extremely well and makes for a simple cleanup when done!!!

place liner in crock, add 1 cup water & 1 beef bullion cube, rub down brisket with olive oil, season like you would to throw in a smoker (salt, place brisket in crock pot, pour in 1 can of Dr. Pepper around edges (I prefer Root Beer), put on the lid, cook on low overnight. Comes out actually pretty good (not as good as smoked IMO).

Brisket is on sale this week at my local HEB so I did one in the croc pot and it turned out awesome. Yeah a roast is more common but when the price is cheap and it's raining off an on it's not a bad alternative.

with all the kids sports going on we usually have a crock pot meal at least 4 times a week, its hard to mess up a crock pot recipe.

All you need is a thermocouple and a digital thermometer. Cook until the internal temp is 203F and brisket will be tender. In a crockpot it will also be very juicy. Bad side is you will not have smoke or bark, but no worries it will be good, juicy and tender. Salt it the night before and use whatever seasoning you like.

I've done a flat brisket in a crock pot. Poured some soy and Worcestershire on it with a rub,, and liquid smoke. Turned out pretty good. Wanted to see if it compared at all to a smoked brisket on the pit, and it was pretty good.
