Looking at having a friend build me a hunting rifle on a trued remmy 700 action with broughton barrel. He suggested the standard HS Precision stock. I know a lot run the Manners now instead. Anyone shot with both on here?

Friend wanted a semi-custom hunting rig. I am partial to vertical grips. I ordered him a Manners MCS-EH1, advertised as being 26 ounces. Once I got it out of the box I believed it! Balanced it on my pinky!
I want to build a short barreled 6.5 Creedmoor as a whitetail rifle with the same stock.

I have run HS, manners and Mcmillan stocks. Right now all my go to rifles have manners EH1s on them. The rest have been sold off or are collecting dust. Of the three the HS was my least favorite

I have a HS stock on my semi-custom 6.5 and it has taken a beating in the 2 years since I got that rifle. Haven't had any issues with it. I also have a Manners and while it is a nicer feeling stock, it doesn't shoot any better than the HS. YMMV I would look at the new Stocky's Stock if I were building a budget minded rifle today.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Manners t4A he has coming he told me. He's pricing it out with that and I'm still looking around. Said the HS stock only supports a #4 barrel

HS and McMillan are going to be hard to beat. I'd also check out Derreck at Horizon Firearms. They've come out with their own stock and it's amazing.

I'll know more tomorrow on what exactly I wanna do stock wise as for him pricing gun and checking my options on a stock. If I have to get a special order one then I will get a carbon fiber most likely

I have shot rifles with Manners, McMillan, AICS, and own one with HS Precision. I love the feel of the HS, but also loved the McMillan but can't recall which version it was. If it were my rifle I would go with the one JG mentioned, it's freaking nice
Availability and price is what drove me to the HS, I needed it yesterday and got it 3 days later for $400

I'm a huge proponent of adj cheek models, I hate stock packs. The MCS-TA is the adj cheek version and is around 2.5lbs if u go CF. The standard model adj is around 3.5lbs. Absolutely nothing wrong with an HS though. If you haven't researched DBM, take a look at the new curtis customs flush mount 3 round. Would make great hunting dbm since it's flush mount and it's SA and LA.

I only have experience with the Manners EH4 carbon fiber and I'm loving mine. I'm just used to the traditional grip and never could get the right feel on a buddy's vertical grip when I was stock shopping. Different strokes for different folks. The EH4 has a shorter forend, so it'll make your barrel look about 10 foot long

And I've currently have a manners T3A, AICS 2.0, McMillan A5 adj and have had an HS precision on an old rem 700 pss. I prefer the a5 as a mostly shoot prone but it's sniper fill and heavy. The t3a is a great stock too but hard to work off of a rear bag

Either do it right the first time with a McMillan or manners or if you have to settle I would probably look hard at https://redhawkrifles.com/products/catalog/grayboe-stocksMay not be in production yet but soon enough The Macmillan online store instock items is a great place to look

Then edge is the lightest mcm but it looks like a regular hs stock. The manners t fits the bill better unless you don't mind the vertical grip.
