I entered the state drawing system and won a bow hunt out at Kickapoo Cavern state park. Has anyone ever hunted out there? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

My Son and I got drawn for the gun either sex hunt a few years ago. They gave us the compartment where the cave is. It was very thick cedar with few places you could see 50 yds. After a day and a half without seeing a deer I asked if another compartment was available. They gave us the one near where the campground is. That turned out better. Saw some hogs and sheep and a few deer. Saw a good Buck but it was way to far to shoot at. The only deer taken were from the flats which I think are south of the headquarters. It is a very scenic place. I did not see a lot of deer. Actually saw more hogs and sheep than deer. Good luck, you will enjoy the hunt. I even found a cave other than the ones they knew about hidden in the thick cedar.

Never hunted the park but we hunt land very near the park. If you can find some open areas, you should do well and have a good time. The good thing is the whitetail herd in the area is very strong. Throw in all of the axis and hogs and you have a decent chance. Good luck
