I saw a decent size covey of Bobwhites at Lake Fork of all places. I have not seen birds that far east in several years. My pup and I ride my golf cart all around Yantis daily. We have seen more quail at the edges of the road than I've ever seen in this area. Hear them calling all the time. What a sweet sound. I haven't hunted quail since dad passed away. So many great memories. Gman

Thanks a bunch for asking. It's just a guess but my guess is that the hens are still nesting and the roosters are hiding the chicks. Maybe you will get a double clutch.

I saw plenty of bird this weekend in Fisher county. I pulled into my buddies place and saw 3 covies from 15 to 25 bird driving the 500 yards from his gate to his house. I hope they can maintain until October.

Came from town just now, saw two different pair on my road to the house. No little ones at all with them. What has happened, why no chicks? Anybody have a guess?

We saw several pairs with chicks on our place in the panhandle today and busted several covies of adult birds just riding the roads. Haven't seen this many quail in a long time.

Always see lots of pairs early evening and late morning. See more chicks and younger birds early morning and late evenings. If you have not been out at those times I would not worry, it is amazing what a difference an hour or 30 minutes can make on what you see riding around in the pasture.

Yea cattle69, but I did see a pair with about 9 to 10 chicks earlier. Now, no little ones with the pairs I have been seeing. That's why I'm worried. We have had a LOT of rain lately. Think that might of hurt em?

More rain cooler weather means more quail in my opinion, I think the last week and the next two weeks should do nothing but help.

The birds I have been seeing ARE young, probably from a early clutch. They were 4 of them on my gravel road just now, 2 didn't want to fly and ran all the way to the cty rd. This is GOOOOD!!!!
