Actually it's good news. Texas can start building the kind of data base necessary to prove the accuracy of live tests. Once you have an accurate live test, standard disease control protocols, can quickly control cwd in breeding situations.

How about mandatory check stations for all deer, so we can test them all, and get age/growth stats that might be remotely accurate?

You're talking about spending tens of millions of dollars tpwd and tahc don't have. Which means it would be raised through license fees taxes. All for data on a disease that has never and will never be controlled OR present a statistically significant danger to wild populations.

IMO it's not worth it.

Mandatory in like you kill a deer and have to get it checked? Good luck with that here or in ETx.

I don't even see any tags on the doe heads I see dumped on the County roads.

Grant it, not apples to Apples but Oklahoma did it for a couple decades. I wouldn't mind it, I'd give an exception for MLD since they are already recording weight, age data.

You can staff it for nearly free, have it be at the processors, or gun shops, or bow shops, or C-stores, etc...

I aint crazy about it, but I am sick of them making decisions with little or no data.
