Long legs, narrow face, small body I think he is prob 1.5-2 looks like he has trash at the bases so prob won't be legal to kill if your in an AR county.

I'm probably just over thinking it, side by side other yearlings he looks older. I'm not interested it shooting him I just thought he looked strange and not like the typical yearling.

Maybe born early maybe just turning 2 when others from his year are turning 2 1/2or maybe just the opposite and born late. With that trash at the bases he may be an interesting deer to keep an eye on the next couple yrs

Looks like something funky is fixing to happen to his antlers
By what is going on on his right side. He may be considerably behind in
Antler growth. Looks young to me, but what do I know?

That buck might surprise you. I had one that looked alot like that as a 2 year old last year.

This is what he turned into as a 3yo this year.

I got a picture of him standing next to a yearling and i just can't see him also being a yearling. It's hard to ignore that neck. Anyone else think so? Will yearlings have necks like that?

I would call him a two year but I would be more concerned about what he was last year if he is 2. Also if he has antler damage that caused him to look like that, I would give him a pass. He is not going to effect the genetics in your deer herd if he does any breeding at all this year.

I found a picture of him last year pretty sure(dot above eye/coloring on knees) and look like normal yearling for our place so I'm guessing you're probably right on the antler damage part. Probably return to normal next year?

I think those callused looking spots are just discolored hair more than calluses. IME everyone that just had velvet damage returns to a normal look the next year. If it was skull/pedicle damage then it might take 2 yrs to return to normal on most, but some with severe skull damage always stay NT on that side. Nothing genetic about IME and many want to jump on the "cull wagon" to get rid of a deer with no history to cull a "genetically inferior" buck out. He will be easy to track with those knees and white hooves in the future.

He will be an interesting one to watch for next year to see what he does. It's hard to keep them around from yearlings to maturity.
