Finished all my mowing last week, all I have to do now is run a disc down the mowed rows. That won't take but about 2 days but I'll have to wait till next week, received an inch of rain this morning.

Would it not be better to just disc it real deep one time?

What I do is mow a strip 40-45' wide then take my 12' disc and go down the middle.

On our sunflowers we mow arches about 80yrds wide and 45yrds deep spaced around the field. That way we have a nice area to pick birds in and we knock down more as the season progresses.

old fallow oat field has the usual nice stand of teaweed (doveweed, goatweed, croton, whatever you call it) and some native sunflowers coming back after shredding....
more oats will follow in Nov for cattle...
AND this year the creek has water in pools on a gravel bottom....
doves hate bushy waterholes and really flock to a waterhole that has open ground next to the water...
