Headed West tonight to fill feeders, put out game cam, and to set pop-up blind. Anything you do to minimize a pop-up getting torn up by the wind or blown away?

Figured I'd stake her down and maybe pile dirt around the bottom edges to help keep wind from getting under it?

Think it'd help shaping a cedar and backing the blind into it?

stake it down good ... my BIL had several that he left up from Labor day until end of season up in the panhandle where it was a windy motor scooter. I like tucking them back in a cedar, pruned back where the wind won't cause the limbs to brush into the popup, it will wear holes.

Cows like pop-up blinds. Put a five gallon paint buck inside in the middle. Full of rocks and dirt. Then tie blind to the bucket.

Have always just staked them and they have been fine. The rats like to chew on the stake loops around our place though, so its kinda sketchy.

I do plan to wedge a long cedar stick in the middle of the blind to the roof. I've had the roof depressed on pop-ups before from either heavy rain or coons. Rain water puddled up will break those flexible rods in a hurry.

Take a 5 gallon bucket, find a stick or pvc pipe cut to the height of blind. Stand stick or pipe up in the center of the bucket and fill with dirt/rocks. Place bucket in center of blind

Stake it down and tighten it up real good, then paint it with a thick coat of clear weather seal. They last pretty good that way. I've had one up for 2 years. Can't fold them back up very easy though they can be dragged to a new spot. I think the pallet will rot before the popup will.

Why leave it out? Pop-ups are meant to be portable right? Do like I do. Just set it up the night before, by the time deer find it, it should be to late if they are a shooter?

They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason! nidea

The blind would stick out like a sore thumb and the last thing I'd want is a normally calm deer to be skittish when bow hunting. I've tried brushing them in a day or two in advance with no luck.
