Hello, I'm interested in getting a video camera setup. I'm not looking to make a tv show but would like a good video camera system so I can tape hunts from my tree stands and tape some buddies. Does anyone have a recommendation?

What kind of budget are you looking at?

Have not really decided on budget yet. Mainly cause I don't really know what all I need. I would imagine camera and arm that attaches to tree or stand. But I guess we can say in the 1000-1500 hundred range and go from there. Of course I'd like to spend least amount possible but I want it to be good. I just have zero experience with this kind of stuff.

My only tip would be, make sure the camera you get can zoom in while recording. Sounds silly but I bought a nice failrly well known camera and once you push record you can't zoom in. Rediculous! Trying to do a Self-Filmed bow hunt on a bushbuck, not easy.

I would recommend a digital video recorder, not the ones with the disk. For the clamp I use something that looks like grip on jumper cables. The screw hole is universal so any online that you like should work for any camera of your choosing. It's cool because even after a rifle shot it doesn't shake the camera at all. Videoing your hunts can also prove to be useful in finding your game when you are having trouble. It helped me locate a turkey. I could not find it and after I reviewed the video, that sucker was in a bush right under me.
