I finally made my purchase on a crossbow, I had the opportunity to shoot at least a dozen different crossbows and after all was said and done I choose the Excalibur Matrix 380. This crossbow is very simple to operate and is extremely quick and pretty quite for a crossbow. I am not a fan of the 150 grain broadhead recommended for the very short bolt of only 17 inches. I am going to experiment with a longer bolt of about 20 inches and a lighter broadhead of 100/125 grain. I did like to reverse limb system of the ten point but too many things that could go wrong with the cranking system " Just my opinion"

As long as your total arrow weight is at least 350 grains (400-450 is better) you can safely use it. So, if you get 360 total weight with a 100 grain broadhead, you are ok.

I'm using Slick Trick XBow Trick heads on (I think) 18" Black Eagle Executioners. If I remember correctly they weigh about 417. Chrono is 355-360ish. Will shoot it some more Labor Day weekend and make sure all is in order.

Thank you rjd and QuitShootinYoungBucks, I am open for any advice and suggestions. I have always been a compound guy and still will continue to hunt with my BowTech Invasion but I will utilize the crossbow for culling.

Yea Excalibur uses light weight bolts with heavier tips than the other makers, that way the bolt doesn't weigh as much and they keep the bolts shorter and lighter. The heavy tips also help with making them front weighted which helps with accuracy to an extent.
You can certainly go heavier on the bolts which will help with both accuracy and noise level. Longer bolts don't hurt really and help add weight some bolt weight.
If you want to reduce the noise level of the bow try the Excalibur air brakes and break pads. Those do help reduce noise.

I have a 380 and shoot 20 inch Zombie slayers tipped with a 125 grain fixed blade head (montec G5s). Total weight for the combo is about 450 grains. That combo is capable of breaking both shoulders on a whitetail with complete pass-thru. Don't typically recommend that shot but had it happen once on a 200lb 8 pt. - deer dropped on the spot with no front wheels. Also had a typical double lung shot on one and the bolt hit a frozen solid (no rot at all) cedar log after pass-thru and the broadhead was completely buried in the log with no blades showing:

Thank you for the responses, I am curious with any opinions on the optics that come with the package. Also any favorite broadhead whether fixed or mechanical for a crossbow

I prefer the same broadhead as Hirogen, hard to go wrong with the G5 Montec, accurate and sturdy head.
If you decide to use expandables be sure they are rated for Crossbow or there is a good chance they blades will open before leaving the string.

As for the TacZone scope I like it. Put one of those on a Parker that I have had for 10 years. IMO it is one of the better scopes that come on crossbow packages. One I am liking more and more is the one from Trophy Ridge that comes on the Bear Sixis bow.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the TacZone scope. I swapped mine out to a Vortex Viper XBR as most of my hunting is under heavy coniferous tree canopy and the low light performance on the Vortex is better but unless you are in unique circumstances the TacZone will have you covered. I also put a Relayer Y25 stock on it, a 2.5 lb two stage Triggertech trigger and a Boo string (better serving life and free reserving for life). All that said there is nothing wrong with the stock bow as is and mine will not kill any more effeiciently - the mods were just personal preference. The modified bow:
