I reloaded some 45 ACP ammo with 230 grain Remington Gold Dot HP's. I have executed quite a few hogs with my Judge, using 45 Colt reloads that I have cooked up, and they've been very deadly at 20-25 yards. So I wanted to see what the 45 Colt's baby brother would do. I recovered this bullet the other day from a sow that tipped the scales at 138 pounds. It entered low and behind the left shoulder, pureed the heart, and was stuck right under the skin on the right shoulder area. The range was 34 yards, and I was using my 45 ACP carbine. She went down hard, and other than some squealing and kicking, didn't move from the spot she fell.

Sweet
That shot would have made for a good video

I have a 7.5" AR in 45 acp that shoots off grease gun mags and its suppressed. I have thought about trying it on a pig at some point

I think that if you keep your shots at reasonable hand-gun range, it would be quite effective. Those low speed projectiles can and will do serious damage if you place your shot carefully. They can also be quite debilitating even if your shot placement isn't perfect.

I dropped a 120-140# sow at about 90 yds with my colt commander.....she was walking across a power line easement. I pulled out my Colt and kept the sights on her for a few seconds then gently squeezed off a round....dropped her in her tracks....shocked me.....

That's it I'm going to try it maybe during this archery season so I will be close to anything that comes in.

So a hollow point is the preferred bullet in handgun calibers? I ended up forgetting my rifle last week and only had my M&Pc 40. Didn't know whether the flat nosed target rounds or the hollow points should be on top. Left them staggered. Seven shots at 15 yards and I had a 150lb boar run a ways and stop. He had a few holes in him. Then he walked off...

Is there a 'proper' handgun bullet?
