Academy person tried to charge me with a $7.00 Migratory Gamebird stamp. I told her I didn't think this was correct. A young man behind me agreed said the HIP certification is all anyone needs. He was right.

We may have a $7.00 Dove stamp next year to raise more money for more youth hunts, etc.

On the website is says you have to have the migratory bird stamp.

a Resident Hunting License,
a Resident Fishing License
and all 5 state endorsements (archery, freshwater fishing, saltwater fishing with a red drum tag, upland game bird and migratory game bird).
The Federal Duck Stamp is not included.

I recommend adding the Annual Public Hunting (APH) Permit - $48 while you are at it

If you buy only the Hunting License you need the Migratory Gamebird stamp and the upland bird stamp and any other stamp that might be needed that is why they offer the super-combo it has it all

Academy in Mesquite (new younger girls working the hunting license table) forgot my HIP. It hit me like a ton of bricks while driving home. Went back and they took care of it. But I'll take the blame as I knew better just in a hurry. But they were about to forget the man in front of me also until i told them about it. Girl had no clue what it was. When i told her i took 130 dove last year she about had a heart attach. She asked me what I did with all those dove lol.

I have one guy at Academy told me that my current license would be expired in 8/31/16. I cannot buy a new one until it was expired, LOL. Luckily, another clerk came by and helped him.

Drives me nuts when stores have people running the license stuff and they don't have a clue what they are doing!

Online it says that the Federal Duck stamp is only good until 9/30/16. When can you buy the new one for 2017?

Got me a winner at Academy, nice and rude. When she got done and said here sign this I asked her about my HIP certification, she said it's there, I said what about the questions and she never answered. I doubled checked to make sure it was there and signed it. Went to give her pin back and she looked up and said "just drop it". Yes Ma'am !!

We had a similar situation a couple years back. TPWD was not too happy when they were told the story.

There's really no excuse for a clerk forgetting HIP certification. The computer prompts them and even tells them what questions to ask. I guess she just got in a hurry and hit "next" too fast. Some type in random numbers and never even ask the questions because they know the data is 100% subjective and worse than useless, anyway.

Crappy employees is the trend in today's world. To save a long story I have spent a total of 8 hours, four on the telephone and 4 vacation hours pissed away trying to get 3 Direct tv satellite receivers replaced after the flood. 8 hours of absolute stupidity. I swear to God the next time I have to call I am going to record my name, address and the story so when the next 12 people I get cycled through I will just hit the play button. I was seconds from bursting an eyeball vein the other day when the middle eastern dude named Randy, called me Larry 23 times in a row.
