Budget, and what do you need it to do? Rifle only, bow/rifle, <600 yds, >1000 yds? A while back Cabela's had the Leupold TBR 1200i for $249, which was a screaming good deal. But you may not need that kind of performance.

Sig kilo seems to be the top dog. If you need less than that look for used ones because a lot of people saying there's to get one.
I have a Leopold 1k tbri and like it. I would get the sig if I bought one today

x2 on the Sig Kilo. Not sure what your budget or performance needs are, but this rangefinder has been getting rave reviews from folks in the long range community. A lot of features for the money.

On the lower cost end of the scale, a Nikon 600 will read a coyote to 400 yards if (and only if) you have decent light. If all your shooting is 400 yards or closer, you don't have to spend the big bucks. How far you need to range is up to you, but I wanted you to know what you can get for a relatively low spend.
Just to mention it, my Nikon 600 will read a shiny road sign out to maybe 900 yards in good light, but unless you are from East Texas you won't be shooting any road signs.

And don't be hung up on strictly 'hunting' rangefinders. the Bushnell tour V3, $199, ranges to 1000 yards, but only 3-400 on smaller objects like the flags on the greens.

Another for the Sig Kilo, but it isn't cheap, nor a bank breaker.

Also, it has a mode to adjust distance for inclines and declines, which is important as distance increases. Nice piece of kit and a very good value. Well worth the cost.

I have a Leupold and a Bushnell. Bushnell is actually easier to use and the glass is better.

By the way no one mentioned Sig Kilo has a 850 and 1250 model as well as the 2000 now

I have a Sig Kilo 850 in route. I'll run a comparison of it with a Leica model that I have when I get a chance. (and when it comes in)

For the price point the 850 is a no brainer Sig is doing very well leading price point right now

Leupold RX1000 TBR+ thingie is great and illuminated. My Nikon Archer's Choice only goes out to 600yd I think and isn't illuminated but it's also got great angling, clarity and ranging

I have the Vortex 1000, its not cheap at $375 but the warranty is the best in the business. It's been flawless for three seasons now.
