What should the newbie know and avoid doing to make this happen? Have variable speed dremel and bench grinder for the middle bolt to shorten it. Any advice on how to not screw this up?

Find a nut that runs up that stud, have it on for a depth guide, and helps straighten threads after you are done.

Find a nut that runs up that stud, have it on for a depth guide, and helps straighten threads after you are done. I think it needs an 1/8th an inch took off the top roughly. I like the idea of running a nut up it to straighten it back out. Keep the heat low and go slow on the grinder. Thank's Sig

Pay somebody. He's right. Send it to derrick at horizon. I bought an B&C medalist tactical stock with AI bottom metal from a guy on the forum. I think he installed it with a chisel and sledge hammer. Derrick fixed his F-up and did a beautiful job.

I'm pretty sure that if u buy direct from the manufacturer that they will still Inlet it for free. All it will cost extra is shipping there and back. At least he did my hs stock for free a coupe years ago. It was even originally a blind mag. The reason I didn't do it sooner was because every other gunsmith told me the blind mag inletting was going to be twice as expensive. Been working flawlessly since.

They'll do it for free, just pay the shipping.

Is the stock already inletted for the bottom metal? Not sure I guess I will have to see what happens when it gets here Friday. I hope I don't have to send it off but it is what it is.

It looks like it is. If it is not, call CDI. Jeff's wife will probably answer the phone, they'll take care of you. Super great people to work with!

A couple of tenths need to be shaved from the inside but the inletting was done. I could see how bad that could have ended and thankfully this one didn't get screwed up.
