does anybody name the deer they are chasing off of their trail cams? if so what did you name them and pics to go along with it would be nice to see. i've only named one, off of a lease i had a few years ago he was about 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 and the base of his antlers were really thick and wide so i named him Heavy Head. the neighbor on the land that connected ours got him unfortunately haha

No, I don't name them, but I was watching a show last weekend and they had all sorts of "cutie names" for the bucks they were hunting. The main one they were after was "Cookie Monster," the woman must have said it 14 times.

We name some of ours and most the time it describes the antler configuration. Did name a couple of doe just because they were a pain in the rear. One was doezilla and the other one was a word to describe a female dog in heat. She had 3 small moles below her eye and was the best human finder I have ever seen. She would come in and lay down at 30 yards and just stare at you. 3 years and I never could get her with my bow. The 4th year, she finally gave me the shot I had been looking for and I couldn't pull the trigger....

When I get to the computer I will see if I have some pictures of some that we named.

We do simple names just so we can clarify with each other what we see during the season. They typically have to be mature bucks before we call them anything unless they have a unique feature. It's usually like wide 10, brow tines, big 8, kickers, tall 9. Nothing fancy or imaginative. We have a doe with no tail that we call Bob. We have a young buck this year that looks like he has a deformed right pedicle or he injured it because his pedicle is on the side of his head with a long spike. His left side is normal, so we call him lefty.

Me and my son name all of of our bucks. It makes it fun for him when we look through the pics and he can recognize the deer by some goofy name we made up.

Named this one droopy. Only a few get a name so we can identify them.

As I said before, we name them to identify them. I try to pick a couple of deer each year and hunt that deer. Sometimes we get them and sometimes we don't. We have named others because it is easier to identify them when talking than trying to describe them each time. Especially when we are able to get pictures of them year to year

This was Big Red. Pictures don't do him justice, he kept that red coat year around. He was old when we first caught him on camera and we hunted him even when he went down hill. My guess is that he died of old age.

This one was "Wide track". He field dressed just shy of 285 and Big Red dwarfed him body wise.

This one was "high tower"

Yes started last year. I think it helps to keep track if you can keep up with them year to year and recognize. Had one I named Cinco because he was the only mature nice racked deer I had seen on our place in 5 years. Didn't get him the first year I saw him but got him last year and he had an extra 2 inch kicker coming off his main beam. Can't post pics from my phone. I think it's nice to have names on them that way when your wife is in the stand seeing deer and your not you at least know which deer she's seeing

Some we do, if they have unique character and develop legend type status being so hard to hunt.

I've only named two that I can think of.

The first one I called Split, due to his split brow tine. He's the closest one in this pic and I watched him all year. Pretty little fella. Never saw him last year.

Second one was last year and this is Ole One Eye.

I have named a few thru the years to identify what buck or bucks I have seen on hunts to others. Quicker for others to know the deer if you have 4-5 different 8 or 10 pts with kickers. If I am hunting by myself I do not name them usually.
