Just picked up a Remington LTR in 6.8spc and am working up loads. Open to suggestion and your favorites!
Thanks!

I really like the 90gr Speer TNTs in 6.8. I haven't chrono'd any of mine, but I bet they're pushing 2500 fps out of my 12.5" barrel. H4198 gives good accuracy, but also from what I've read also the fastest velocities. When you start moving to the 110gr and 115gr projectiles though, H4198 doesn't do so well in the accuracy department. I couldn't get a single group to consistently group below 1.5". H322 and Reloader 7 are the favorites for the heavier options.
With the bolt action, you'll probably be able to really push the caliber to its potential. With my AR, I just load everything to mag length because my lands are so far out, but you may actually find that you touch the lands before you run out of magazine length.

Thanks for the input. I am loading to mag length( in the bolt gun without mag mods, its the same length as the AR) and not hitting the lands, and Ive been trying IMR4198 because, as you said, the books give it kudos for speed. Tried three different bullets so far, but today I'll be messing with the powder charges and seating depths ( particularly in the 95 gr. Barnes, as Ive always found Barnes like a bit of a 'jump') If I don't hit on something, Im going to try the H322 that you mentioned because again I see it in all the loading charts as a favorable alternative.

AA2200 and H322 have been the best in mine. 120gr Hornady SSTs are lights out on most Texas game. Be aware most of the LTRs are the original 6.8 SPC chamber and not the 6.8 SPCII chamber. The difference is in the throat. You may not be able to push as much powder as a SPCII chamber as the original will build pressure sooner.

10-4 on the spcII Mine is a basic spc...so Im referring to the data for that one. Good info on the powder and SSTs...Ive had a few guys recommend the SSTs while no one seems to like them in anything bigger..Im guessing they are thin jackets and high speed tears them up..the spc isn't exactly 'high speed' so they oughta work well....

There is a lot of published 6.8 data online from Hogdon, Nosler, Accurate, etc. It will all be safe as no one publishes data for SPEC 2. I have a SPEC 2 AR and a SAAMI spec Ruger Ranch. If are you reloading for hunting deer/hogs within 300 yards, 120 SST, 100/110 Accubond are good bullets that have decent BCs to hold velocity. The 95 TTSX and 110 TSX are also built for 6.8 velocities. The 120 SST is by far the most economical of the ones listed without giving up killing power.

Hearing more and more good things about the 120 SSTs...might have to give them a go. Meanwhile, the rifle shows a decided preference for Barnes 95 gr. TTSX and Im a big-time Barnes fan....
