My brother and I drew permits for scimitar horned oryx at Mason Mountain - North Pasture. Have any of you been on this hunt or have any tips? Any info you could share about what to expect would be greatly appreciated. I've never even been to the WMA. Thanks!

Lucky guys. Good luck. Mason WMA has a great bunk house and personnel. Beautiful place. Great processing area also. Check out the cabin on the lake. Lot of different wildlife take a tele camera lens Best I remember the North pasture is rocky hi hills (from road). The oryx there escaped from the south pasture where the pen are (years ago). The oryx get pretty big in size so be prepared if you shot one in difficult area. They slowly wonder around and should be easy shot if you are in right place. Act somewhat like cattle. Never shot one but have seen many in middle and south pasture when WT hunting. Check out the plywood paneling around the loading shoot in south pasture. LOL from wiki: Scimitar oryx Species The scimitar oryx or scimitar-horned oryx, also known as the Sahara oryx, is a species of Oryx extinct in the wild since 2000. It formerly inhabited all of North Africa. It has a long taxonomic history since its discovery in 1816 by Lorenz Oken, who named it the Oryx algazel. This spiral-horned antelope stands a little more than 1 metre at the shoulder. The males weigh 140–210 kg and the females weigh 91–140 kg. The coat is white with a red-brown chest and black markings on the forehead and down the length of the nose. The calves are born with a yellow coat, and the distinguishing marks are initially absent. The coats change to adult coloration at 3–12 months old. en.wikipedia.org · Text under CC-BY-SA license Wikipedia Lifespan: 15 years (Female) Scientific name: Oryx dammah Horn length: 39.37 inch (100 cm) – 47.24 inch (120 cm) (Female, Male) Gestation period: 243 days – 274 days Body length: 55.12 inch (140 cm) – 94.49 inch (240 cm) ( Height: 39.76 inch (101 cm) Weight: 200.62 pound (91 kg) – 308.65 pound (140 kg) (Female) Biological classification: Species Belongs to: Oryx

It is amazing to drive down by the lake in the morn/evening and see all the different game that will come out. They have some nice mounts in the Bunk house, satellite dish, VHS, DVD, fireplace, freezer, washer dryer, commercial kitchen appliances, BBQ pit, 100 yds range out back of BH

Great place, great staff, congratulations. If you go into town, avoid Coopers but Willow Creek cafe and the Mexican Food place are pretty good. Willow Creek stays open late for hunters.

Congratulations! But how'd you find out you'd been selected? No sour grapes here, but just checked my status and it still says "Application Received". Maybe they notify selections first, then change "Applications Received" to "Not selected".
At any rate, have a great hunt.

Thanks, guys. Talked to a fella at the WMA today and booked the bunkhouse. Really excited about this hunt and definitely going to take the big camera. Hopefully I'll have some good pics to post when we get back!

I shook out some cubes and was barely back in the blind before the herd found them. Fastest hunt I've ever been on. Facilities, Lodging, crew, and wma are all first class.

Shoot then next year i won't just put in for the guided one if it's like calling in the cattle with range cubes.
