On a impulse I bought this cherry lil.Savage 219 in 22 Hornet. Sounds like fun ....right. Now I gotta feed the lil beastie. I understand with the twist rates I'm proly limited to 50 gr projectiles. I guess I need some advice on components and shared experience.

AA1680 or N110, also flat base bullets need to aligned up with case mouth before seating. Case walls are thin and will collapse when seating bullets if your not careful. I have owned several hornets and almost all liked a 40 grain pill the best which maybe due to rifle twist and velocity. You can try a 50 grain bullet and see. The little cartridge also develops high pressure signs with reloading data near the max. Usually primer pockets blow out,or case swells ahead of rim. If you can find some Calhoun double hollow point bullets, try em. They make big holes!

The necks will crack. Accurate little rascal but I sold mine because of the thin brass. My 223 replaced it nicely.
Cast I have a short attention spa

I've got a couple of K Hornets, 10" Contender and 24" Encore. I'v had good luck with the 40 gr Hornady VMax and Lilgun. Lately I've been messing with 45 gr cast and small charges of Tightgroup trying to make a 22 Mag replacement.

That is pretty cool Okie44, I had a Bullberry 14 inch contender barrel in 22 K hornet and it shot well(I wish I had kept that one). I do shoot cast bullets in my 25-20 and my 32-20 lever guns. Are you getting any leading from your K hornet?

I've loaded cast with a gas check in my AR at about 2300 fps and never had trouble leading.

Since it came out Lilgun has become many people's go to powder for the Hornet, it works great in the little round.
I have gotten best accuracy and velocities using lilgun in a Ruger 77H and Browning low wall and 40gr bullets.
On accuracy I have gotten my best accuracy using pistol primers, just not igniting much powder.
Have fun with the little round it is a great old round.

Update I finally got some time and took the rifle to the range with 10 handloads. New Hornady brass 40 gr Sierra Hp 11 gr IMR 4227 and Win Small pistol.primers. A bit of a learning curve on everything, but I grin everytime I pull the trigger. I did notice that my primers.were.a bit cratered to the point that they had to be wiggled into a shell holder.

Maybe try small rifle primers and see if the cratering changes.
