Currently, my hunting rifles are fitted with Zeiss Conquest (older model), Conquest HD5, and Swarovski Z3 scopes. The HD5 and Z3 have suitable glass for what I do with them. However, I'm looking to replace the older Conquest scopes.

With that said, I'm seeing some good prices on Leupold VX-6 scopes. I'm considering either the 2-12x42 or 3-18x44 models with simple duplex reticle. Any thoughts on this scope?

I have one, 3-18 x 50mm. It's on a Remington 700 5R Milspec in .308. Clarity, tracking and ability to hold zero are what you'd expect form a $1300.00 scope. Light gathering is what will make you scratch your head. This scope turns night to day.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Thanks for inputs, guys. I've been trying to find as much info/reviews about the VX-6 scope as I can. There are some negative things reported by a few people, but overall seems to be a nice scope. What has me a little apprehensive, though, is that I'm seeing them heavily discounted right now. What's up with that?

I have the VX-6 and 7 models with the turrets to dial elevation and wind. So far, they are tracking very well and I really like those scopes. The glass is very good, also. It's on par with Swaro and such.

I've got the 3-18x44 on my Tikka 270. Best hunting scope I've ever used.

God bless John Wayne!

Bunch of players with " new" stuff in at $1000-1200 range with more tactical features and at is what is cool because everybody kills at 600 yards. There is not much in that range with glass and lowlight as good as the vx6 IMO. Just a guess

B-I-L,

Sounds logical. Just lost the bid on a Leupold VX-6 scope by $10. I will keep trying, though. Guess I need to dig a little deeper in my wallet...man I'm a tight wad.

Appreciate the observation on the Leupold pricing.

I finally broke down and bought a scope off of eBay. I got a Leupold VX-6 2-12x42 with standard duplex. Should have it in a few days. Can't wait to compare it to my Swarovski Z3 and Zeiss HD5. I know the clarity will be better than my older Zeiss Conquests. I will be selling one of my old Zeiss scopes, most likely.

I appreciate the info from everyone!
