I have always been the one that loves to drive and see the world. My wife on the other hand hates road trips and I hate to fly. There is a lot of the world you miss from an airplane. Is there anyone else who has a wife like mine. I told her if she buys me a plane I would learn to fly it, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I no longer fly.

I worked in the middle east on 30 on 30 off rotation for a few years and have flown in choppers enough to go half way around the world and will never set foot in either again. rifle

Me and the wife are cool with up to around 13 hours a day in the truck. We don't fly even in an emergency situation. We drive and will make it. No kiddos yet so that will change.

If the scenery is pretty, I don't mind the drive, but I generally like to fly. I recently found that I also enjoy trains. You get to see the countryside and get to drink!

If it's within 7 hours, I'll always drive.

just depends on where we are going and how much time we have. We have driven dozens of times to NM & CO from central TX on various vacations/snow skiing trips, mainly with our kids due to the shear expense of flying 4 people and having to rent a car upon getting to our destination.

I much prefer to drive if I have the time to enjoy it, the wife not near as much as me and prefers flying if it's a long distance. It just takes so dang long to get anywhere when leaving from central TX ...

There is nothing I like more than a road trip. I won't ever get on another commercial flight again unless it's a life or death emergency.

Love being out on the road but situational awareness is very important. I don't fly anymore due to the govt regulations and attitudes of TSA personnel. Afraid I would end up in jail.

I enjoy driving especially when the scenery is nice, if its a real long haul and no scenery I would fly.

I have 1,000,000 miles on Delta and 900,000 on American. Blew out my inner ear 5 years ago flying from LA to Atlanta. I had a real bad sinus/ear infection. Now, driving is the only option for me.

Want to get rid of some of those AA miles?

Yep. Still lots of the world we want to see, but it's getting harder and harder to even get excited about a trip when you know you have to endure the selfish, graceless masses to get there.

Our youngest and her husband do very well and travel, we think, obsessively, all over the world. Lots of very exotic places. She's a couple of years older than him and I think she is finally growing weary of it. 'Don't know if he ever will.

I normally don't like to fly if drive is less than 12 hours due to possible weather and cancellations which got us a few years ago on spring break. Went to Oregon last week on Alaskan and it was great. No wait at Term E at DFW. Flew out of Bend, OR so zero wait or lines there returning. Bag was out before we exited. TSA was very pleasant and helpful. Now you can surf the interwebs at 35K feet.
