How many of you hunt near the areas you deer hunt? Of course I don't mean hunting over your feeder, but within 200-400 yards. My family is growing and I need a few more areas to spread out a bit. I have an area about 300 yards from my feeder that was cleared to place a pump jack. Too close?

Hunt all you want, won't affect the deer. I've had dove hunters blasting away and 250 yards away from the field I have a corn feeder, deer feeding while guys shooting. Been doing it 16 years here and have never noticed that it hurt any deer hunting.

we hunt it a few times for the first couple of weeks. just make sure you are not to close to a feeder so the GW cant get you for baiting.

Been doing it 16 years here and have never noticed that it hurt any deer hunting. I had a deer walk right thru the middle of a pivot field that had 9 guys around it blasting away and it never broke a trot
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Stay away from feeder "Game Warden" but shotguns couple hundred yrds away wont bother deer. My brother hunts squirrels all around his stand/feeder don't affect deer at all.

Hunt the water holes early in the season. Doves (and deer) need lots of water this time of year!

To state it simply ---
it wont bother the deer,,,, the game warden will give you a ticket if he wants to,,,,, how many yards away from the feeder is not relevant.

I've had my last 2 GW here and checked out my set up with Deer feeders and Dove hunting. My closest feeder to a field is about 200 yards back into the woods. Both said the feeder was fine as long as no one hunted around it. Another GW might feel different but I think intent goes a long was.

Can ticket u if feeder 500 yards away- if they think it's drawing in dove

Define too close. I went to google earth and I'd be roughly 350 yards away from my feeder and you cannot see my feeder. The property has several new pump jacks and one of those has a cleaning the size of two football fields. Just so happens this area is loaded with sunflowers and dove.
Guess I should call the GW.

Yea, call your GW, that's what I did. He came out and looked at it in relation to my field and gave me a thumbs up.

We hunt fields and tanks on our place. Feeders are hundreds of yards away but not drawing the dove in.

A few leases ago we were on a place in Hamilton Co. The deer huntin sucked, but it had a 150 acre and another 40 acre field full of sunflowers. The doves were thick and had a lot of great times there. All the shooting around there never bothered the deer, but I'd stop hunting doves in early October just to keep from rubbing anyone the wrong way. I miss that place.

Never had a problem with it. In fact about 6-8 years ago while hunting on a place in Cross Plains I went dowm opening weekend of bow season, but I didn't bow hunt so I was going to check feeders and kill some dove. According to the schedule I was the only one there, turns out one of the other guys was there bow hunting and ended up shooting a doe about 250 yards from where me and another guy had been blasting dove all morning!
You can run but you can't hide...

If you shoot a dove and it has corn in its craw and there are no harvested field nearby you can get a ticket.

We hunted near a feeder that was turned off and the spinner and funnel were covered with a garbage bag so no feed could hit the ground. I didn't know it was there cause I couldn't see it through the trees behind where i was hunting. It was only about 75 yards away but it was in the brush. Game warden jumped the fence and surprised me and asked how long it had been that way. I asked how long what what was that way? He said the feeder he found on his way to where i was. I told him i didn't know about any feeder so since before I got there but couldn't say exactly how long or where it was. He walked under it and said "OK you're good". He looked at the 6 birds in my bird bagged. checked my gun for a plug and went back into the woods. He had to walk 3/4 of a mile to get from the road to where I was.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.
