I have a rail for attaching a bipod, but I need to drill another hole into the forend of my stock. Does carbon fiber require any special drilling technique or anything? Will it mess with the structural aspects to the stock? I would assume it wouldn't but you know what they say about assumptions. Half of the time I'm shooting, I use my Harris bp and the other half I'm on sand bags. Taking the bipod on/off gets old so I'm wanting a qd atlas I believe. Here's the stock in question

I drilled out a carbon fiber EH1 to add a custom cheek rest. The first hole chipped a little around the edge. I put some masking tape down before drilling the next one and it came out clean.
Integrity of the stock isn't an issue. I just had a smith drill out and add an atlas rail to different manners stock of mine. Turned out perfect!

Good to know. Thanks P&Y! Now to decide if I want to do this or do like you and take it to a smith lol. I'd hate to ruin this stock.

The rifle was still being built is the only reason I had a gunsmith install the rail. On the cheek rest, I found some threaded sleeves at fastenal that fit the hardware I wanted to use. Drilled the hole just deep enough to flush mount and slightly larger than the sleeve. Installed the sleeve with JB weld and let it cure overnight. It's rock solid

Nice! A buddy of mine mounted a cheek rest fairly similar to the way you went about it. It turned out pretty good.
