The Jeep JK thread got me thinking....I drive a 94 Blazer K1500 for y hunting rig. I also use a cargo hitch for the ice chest if I kill a deer/pig/whatever. The ice chest, when it's on the hitch, covers the license plate. I've never been stopped for that but have heard (usually third party) stories f people getting stopped for a "concealed rear license plate." I've consdered relocating the license plate bracket to the tail gate show it'll be above the ice chest. No big deal getting stopped for it I guess, except the hassle and waste of time. Something I should consider or am I just borrowing trouble?

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. If you move it, you'd have to move the light as well or that's another thing you could get stopped for.

Dangit, hadn't thought about the light. Good point.

There should be holes in the hitch already for a license plate. The light is not very hard to install.

To answer the original question, yes it's illegal.

Can you make a plate for the hitch or order and extra? Seems easier than relocating?

I was actually considering mounting the plate to the ice chest. Wouldn't take 30 seconds to move it from vehicle to ice chest with a drill-driver.
