Wife and I went to Cloudcroft for a few days to beat the heat. Not a bad drive, about 6.5 hours to the cabin. Cabin is on the 7th hole fairway of the golf course at 8750'. Elk and Deer came out in the fairways in the afternoon. One young Spike Bull at a water hazard about 125 yards from the deck of the cabin. Cow and calf Elk on the Tee Box. Temps were 53 to 78 while we were there, also a little rain. Hiked about 7 miles in the Lincoln NF up to 9400' elevation and saw some beautiful country. Also went to White Sands and got a pic in the Sands looking at the mountain and a pic from the mountain looking at the Sands. On the way home we saw a group of Bulls in a fellas yard. Great trip, ready to get to work preparing for Dove season now.

I did a marathon in the mountains in white sands it was rough. Bataan memorial death march it was in April I thought no 2010 and it was hot and dry I guess we didn't get high enough elevation to get cool air.

Me too. I'm only able to be outside for so long in the heat and humidity of East Texas, and then it's time to hide indoors with the AC going. Seeing those mountains sure does make me question why I'm here right now!!!

Beautiful country and pictures. I can feel the cool and smell the pines. I have seen snow and sleet on July 4th around Cloudcroft and Sunspot. Those summer shower were always great to freshen up the area. Thanks cheers
