I suppose there's more than a few of you guys who have eaten the newer MRE's either in the service or have just tried them. Most seem to have a heater with them, so the idea of a self-contained hot meal in a pouch vs a cool sammy sounds really good. They're about $7 a piece for an assorted case on Amazon, so not too pricey.
Comments?
Thanks, Charlie

I spent more than 25 years on active duty. i don't care is I ever eat another MRE. Give me a couple P&J tortilla wraps and I'm good for the day and I kept that $7 in my pocket.

I like this, with a G aide. Falcon, your photo brought a tear to my eye. My 19 year old daughter who has passed away, took that exact meal every time we were in the deer stand together. Good memories together.

Things would have to get pretty darn bad for me to eat another MRE for free, much less for $7.

Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Keep in mind an MRE is designed to be eaten with a full canteen of water or they'll plug you up.

I ate those too maybe thats why I'm not so fussy about MRE's. The thing that I can't do is go camping in a tent.

Looking back I don't think I've ever ate while in a blind, that's the last thing I wanted to smell like.

Ok boys, going to share this one more time....
Sausage balls.... make them before you leave home, put 4-8 in each baggie, or one big baggie and one little baggie per hunt.... bisquick, sausage, cheese.... they'll keep for a week or so in a backpack, very good
Also good warmed on a knife over a heater or fire if you have to have them hot...

Properly fixed these are actually edible. Heat the can of beans and "mothers" add a can of cheese spread, touch of Tabasco sauce or a couple of the local's peppers. When the cheese is melted and stirred in, serve with crushed crackers. The 3 ingredients by themselves were awful, but combined and heated a decent meal

My food in the blind are dried snacks. I mix up a container of Cheerios, mixed nuts, Wheat Chex, Rice Chex and fill zip bags to carry to the blind.
