With target loads? Ive got a bunch of winchester AA 8 shot shells but im not sure how theyll work. I imagine it will handicap my range but would that be the only difference?

All the time. Target loads usually have better components and harder shot. Dove loads are cheaper because they are cheaper made. Think regular vs premium gas. Regular is the dove load, Premium is the target load.

12ga 7/8oz 1145 to 1200 fps is a really good dove load. There is really no need for 1 1/8oz dove loads. Stay in front of the bird and you will be just fine.

the target loads will work fine. I've shot them on many occasions. 8 shot will work fine as well, especially if your birds are closer/on the easier end of shotgun range. I tend to prefer 7.5 just because It carries distance and seems to kill a little better. but no doubt I've taken a lot of birds with 8's.

if you hunt in an areas where you get the large swarms of high-flying white-wings, a full choke with 6 will reach them effectively.

They will do fine.
Doves dont need much. 2-3 pellets and they down

With 12 gauge, i shoot them with 900 fps nr 8 or 7 1/2
My favorite is with nr 9 or 7 1/2 out of a 28 gauge

I've used them on doves mostly to use them up. I just shoot a tighter choke

I use the cheap promo loads for skeet. Target loads for doves, quail, and sporting clays.

Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

They will work but this is what I don't like about target loads for doves. Most of your target loads are coated and they act like a full metal jacket rifle bullet where your game loads will expand or flatten out to some degree causing for a faster kill where a target load will go thru them and they will fly longer distance. Other than that a target load has a more rounder pellet where as a game load isn't so perfect causing more of an erratic pattern.

That's just my .02

As long as they will cycle in your Benelli, you're good to go!
