Hey guys, I've been waterfowl hunting for sometime now and I feel like I've hit a plateau in my Calling abilities. I went to stuttgart this week and went to echo calls and sat down with rick Dunn and talked to him about my calling. He said I was good for the amount of time I've been calling. I told him that I want to take my calling to the next level and want to one day be able to do competitions. He suggested I get with someone with some wisdom and someone that has the experience. I have only one friend I reallg hunt with and he is pretty Good caller but also wants to take it to the next level. Im looking for a mentor, someone with calling wisdom, someone that isn't talking out of their you know what and would enjoy teaching a couple of good ole boys how to get better and possibly be some of the best callers out there. This is the only way I know how to find you guys and we would truly appreciate any help or suggestions. Thank you guys for reading my post and feel free to pm me.

I can call more than good enough to kill mallard ducks, but I'm kind of in the same boat. Want to get better and possibly get into some competition calling. But, it just doesn't seem to be big in the state of texas like it is everywhere else. waiting to see what kind of responses you get.

Where are you located?

There is a guy on here...Erik Burns "GreaterMallard" that used to do some competition calling. I don't know if he's still competes but could certainly point you in the right direction. He also guides for Bullzeye Outfitters out of Sherman.

Not sure how much he posts on here anymore or if he'll see this.

I totally agree with Heisman. Mohunter is very knowledgable about duck hunting and can blow a duck call better than anyone I know. I duck hunted with him several times last year - very nice guy and will show you some great places to hunt on public water too. Send him a PM.

I would PM Judd. When Judd blows a duck call, them ducks come strain in, in single file line.

I'm probably to far but I'm in Wimberley and like to hunt granger. I think it's most important to know how to place a spread and where to put one... If your good at that you won't need to call half the time. Then knowing how to read the birds as you call is another huge advantage.
After that they don't have a chance

Find a spot away from all the topwaters on granger and you've got half the battle won.
