Price is about par for the course, +/-, unfortunately. Some can get a lot more expensive. I'd like to have one, but not at those prices for a bona fide range gun

Colt Pythons are really pricey. $3000 seems about right, not that I would pay that.

That's just a plain Jane python, there's some out there you won't touch for less than 10,000.

Python values swing wildly depending on bbl length, finish, and when they were manufactured. The solid underlug Pythons bring a premium. It sounds like it was a pawn shop and $3k is their insurance value on that gun they probably gave $500 for on pawn.

I have a thing for colt snub nosed .38's. Mine aren't for sale either, unless the price is right. There are still plenty out their for sale.
