I just got done watching trophy hunters TV, which showcased the guys that created Big and J and "Pigs Dig It" attractant. Has anybody seen this?

1) They hunted for 2-3 days in Menard with the "Pigs Dig It" product and only shot one pig!
2) The muzzle awareness of the CEO was a little concerning. He kept his magazine in the AR 15 while he was dancing around like a jackass.... RELEASE THE CLIP, INSPECT THE CHAMBER, AND SHOW THE AUDIENCE THAT YOU ARE A SAFE HUNTER!
3) On the final morning of the hunt, the CEO dude shoots a random Black Buck walking by and the other dude finished his hunt without a kill..... Where are the pigs?

I appreciate their honesty, but it does not appear that this products works any better throwing some corn out. Also, the loosy goosy attitude with a potentially loaded firearm gives me an allergic reaction.

I wish them well in their marketing efforts, but this episode really did not do much for me.

If you make a hunting TV show, you need to assume that inexperienced hunters are watching you and will emulate your behaviors. For the love of Pete,

1) unload your magazine after your shot, clear the chamber, and ensure the rifle is on safety
2) don't act like a rookie after you shoot something. (act like this is not the first time you've been in the end zone) Show respect to the dead animal and keep your composure.
3) Be very careful with where you put your rifle once you inspect your kill. Don't lean it against the animal where it can slide over and have an accidental discharge, and don't lay it flat on the ground. brace it against a tree or a bush facing away from and hunters near by.

Nobody is perfect, but folks who make these shows should be held to a higher standard.

JR

Maybe it's time to leave the TV off for a few weeks. Just a thought!

What Curtis said. Complaining to us that the show doesn't meet your standards does nothing to help the show be a better show.

It's a magazine, not a clip. See, we all make mistakes.

However, I have long said that commercial attractants do one thing good and that is take money out of your pocket and put it in someone elses. It's about making a buck, nothing more, nothing less.

I can't tell you the last hunting show I watched....

longgunner, I suggest that you bring these points to TTHA. Call Hal Galm or Karl Kinsel, they are good fellows and need input from the viewing audience or it will never change.
The "over celebration" after a kill is something that I see all too often on the hunting shows. I agree with you in that we should show respect to ALL of God's creatures.
Thanks for the post and Adios,
Gary

I have hunted with Jeremy (owner of Big&J) and he is hunting with us again this year. I will say that the 4 days he was with me he was a great hunter, very safe, polite, courteous, and listened to the guide. I can't say that for many other Tv shows we have done. He came into camp a client and left a friend. That doesn't happen often when you are dealing with the great white hunters on TV

Other than Pigman I don't watch hunting shows any more. I don't like the stupid excessive celebrations. I don't like the way some of them shoot any deer they see just to get a kill on camera, and I especially don't like it when they talk down to the viewer while expressing their so-called expertise. Just my opinion.

I, too know Jeremy and he is a good fellow. While I have never hunted with him, I have known him for at least five years he has always been very friendly and humble.

Gary

we must not forget having to watch them driving in there truck with every road sign on camera , having to watch them at the airport ,eating at there favorite restaurant , clowning in the bunkhouse, and then there ugly mugs in the camera while trying to be comedians , its amazing how they find time for the animal in the 30 min. show . i still watch the old VHS tapes with the old school hunters . but to each his on . just my 2 cents . I'm speaking of just about all hunting shows in general not singling out this one by no means . i will say to GARY ROBERTS i do watch yours , I've never seen my above comments on yours !!! hats off to ya .

Thanks breadman. You will never see us driving down the road, stumbling through an airport, kissing my wife good bye, buying junk food at an Allsups or acting like a fool after killing an animal. You will never hear me say, "harvesting" an animal, that is something we do with crops and vegetables in the garden. I killed every animal that died as a result of my actions.
There are some very well produced shows out there and then there are the shows hosted by folks that have very large egos and want the show to be all about "Me". If the show is worth a darn, it should never be about the host, it should tell a story about what you are hunting and how, where you are hunting or who you are hunting with. In my opinion, the show should be about more than just the killing, but what the heck do I know.
Adios,
Gary

I watched the last episode featuring TTHA's new VP Operations and his beautiful little daughter. It was a great show and shows the more human side of what we do. I hope you all watch it. I set to record every episode this year because of this father daughter hunting team..

I also watched the one the OP is speaking of, it was ok. The product is expensive but I have used their "blocks" and they work like crazy, but for $20 they only last a few days. Its like Omilean in a cube great stuff

Gary,

I get the outdoor channel, but not the VS channel. Where can I pick your show? I'm always looking for good shows to demonstrate ethical hunting to my kids....

Cheers,

JR

longgunner, if you are on Direct or Dish, you get the channel in all standard packages. If you want to watch some of our older episodes, you can google CarbonTV and scroll through shows, then click on CARNIVORE. You can pick which shows that you want to watch.
There is no substitute for you or your wife teaching your kids safety, proper hunting ethics and respect for all of God's creatures, even the coyote or wild hog. Unfortunately, most young couples must live in the city and have two jobs to make ends meet and after all, that is even more important than hunting. This busy schedule limits the time that you can be in the woods with your children making it paramount that you do a lot of teaching at home. If the kids want to watch something on TV, having them watch CARNIVORE may be a better learning experience than say, NAKED and AFRAID, although I have never seen it.
Another promise that I will make you is that I will never do a "Tip of the Week" segment. If you have any momentum going that is created by action on the show, why do you want to kill it by stopping to do a "Tip of the Week"?
Thanks and Adios,
Gary

I can remember when it was hard to find a hunting or fishing show on TV. I watch hunting and fishing shows all the time and enjoy them. If one is to self promoting then I pass on it.
