Has anyone used any of the dump carts from Northern Tool, Lowes or Home Depot behind an ATV for their lease? Its kinda a pain to pull my utility trailer all over the place so I'd like to get something. They have a few with with ATV-type tires... although most are smaller in width.

What ever you do make sure the size of the trailer will fit your needs. Weight limit, bearings on axils, tongue long enough.
I have a dump trailer, had to extend the tongue because of atv rear basket, the dump would activate on rough terrain, bent axle to much corn, bungee rear gate on would bounce off etc?
A small utility trailer will work better IMO.

The stuff you mention is what I'm nervous about. I would really like something a little more narrow than my utility trailer to be more flexible... especially to get game out of the woods... plus I'm taking it through some pretty bumpy unimproved fields. The utility trailer is overkill for size, really noisy on the bumps, and bulky for most of what I'm doing.

I'm considering this one... no basket on the ATV so the tongue should be fine, weight limit is good. I am nervous about the dump trigger, but it looks like I could strap the tub if it acts flakey.

Brian, the one that you have posted looks good. I would watch the high center line with weight in it on cross grades possible tip over.

I've got one of those Lowes trailers and don't need it anymore. It's free to anyone that wants it. Tires are slimed. It is beat up, but it is free. I'm 40 miles east of Waco.

Good thought...

Forgot to mention... this one also has notes about don't exceed 20MPH. Most of the ones I've been looking at say 10MPH. The higher speed rating should mean more stable. I have a mile or so of farm road that I'll be using and i rarely go over 20 due to the road conditions anyhow.

603Country, I'm supposed to be heading to Austin on the 13th. If no one claims it, I may, but don't hold it in case I end up not coming that way.

I have a Tractor Supply version and it is a basic POS. I ended up Jerry rigging solid wheelbarrow tires on it and installing grease zirks in the plastic hubs. They came from Harbor Freight. This trailer is all Tractor Supply had and I was in a bind. This one has a back panel that slides into the sides for a gate. The setup ain't worth crap, and loud, you haven't heard loud until you drag it down a ranch road, you can here it coming from a couple miles off, no kidding. The dump latch is poorly designed and made of cheap a$$ steel. It gets the job done barely and 6-7 bags is the limit?

Did I mention how loud it is?

They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason! nidea

I have a JD round bottom dump cart that I haven't used since I bought the tractor. Not real big but it is real tough. I could be talked into selling it.

I went thru a 1000# and a 1500# cart, carrying 400# of corn, from Northern Tool before I got smart and got a 4' x 7', 2000# trailer from Cabela's. It's big enough to haul my ATV (Polaris Sportsman X2) and then use it behind the ATV out at the lease. Still it is narrow enough to get down our ATV trails.

The carts have no suspension resulting in bent axles, they'll beat themselves to death going across pasture and unimproved roads, might work OK in your front yard. The axle bearings are meant for lawn tractor speeds, at ATV speeds they overheat and fail.

My advice, get the smallest trailer your ATV will fit on and use it for double duty.

EDIT: Not sure why you need a dump Trailer. I just lower the drive up ramp to pull the deer up onto the trailer.

I second the small utility trailer. Even the type of kit that folds up for storage, these are set up for road use NOT LAWN USE.

I have this one http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200377292_200377292
I love it. I have hauled loads of driveway gravel in it, loads of heavy wet clay i dug out of my spillway. It has zerk fittings on the bearings so just pump them with grease every few months, no problems. If you are bending axles on these things then you are doing something wrong.
Got it on sale and used a $50 off coupon they occasionally send out. Think it came to $250 a year ago when i bought it.

It's interesting how varied the experiences are. I mentioned this to my step dad and he told me to just take his since he never uses it. I'll give it a try to see how it works... for free I can't pass it up!
