Own a unique piece of art, this "Antique Style" dove decoy. Carved and painted to look like it's a 100 years old even though it's fresh off the workbench. Dove body is an old fence post, the display stand is mesquite. Put it in the field on Sept 1 and be the envy of all your friends, display it on your shelf/desk/mantle the rest of the year for inspiration and a conversation piece. The leg is not permanently attached to the stand or the bird, so that it can be hunted and earn some more wear marks in the field.
First image shows the large check that runs through both wings.
Closeup of popped/exposed woodgrain on the tail.
"Jun 16" because ... 1916? Older? To be clear, this is not an actual antique, I'm not trying to pass it off as such. This is a new bird with imagined history.
Closeup of relief carved eye, rubbed/exposed wood on brow.
A back/top view. Here you can see the rasp marks from carving, often the old timers would leave the decoys rough like this, just serviceable as a likeness of the bird to bring game in.
And finally, a view of the bird from the right side. The check/crack in this wing isn't as large as the bird's left side.
Price on this is $285. Shipping from Austin.
