Hey fellas,
My friend is looking to get into 3 gun, so he's been gathering supplies but needs help with the belt. Right now he's looking at a Safariland holster, so something that would coalesce with one of their holsters.
I'm wanting to buy him one for his birthday, but he was hoping to try a couple out first. Any advice?

I have experience with CR Speed Belt, 1.75" DSG Comp Belt and the Safariland ELS belt. My hands down favorite is the ELS Belt. The belt is stiff, secure and velcro is very good. Of course the best part of the ELS belt is the quick clip accessory system.
As a 3-gunner, your friend will CONSTANTLY be re-configuring the belt between shot shell carriers and pistol/AR mag pouches. The ELS system is so much faster/easier to configure/reconfigure than tek-loks or conventional clips. Setting up a belt is a major part of the 3-gun experience and it is expensive. Buy good stuff up front and don't look back.

The ELS system is a good one but it's the only one I have used so can't offer any opinions on others.

Why would someone carry three handguns?

Why would someone carry three handguns? It's not for carrying 3 pistols. It's for carrying a pistol, mag pouches and shot shell holders for 3 gun comp(pistol, carbine and shotgun)
If you shoot a young deer because a neighbor will shoot it, you are that neighbor.

Why would someone carry three handguns? Because they can. Just Couldn't resist.
