me and another officer are planning an elk hunt in Unit 54 in CO if we can get the tag. This tag is a call in first come first serve shot. my question is if I get this tag am I able to hunt other units that are over the counter tags. Also can any one tell me about this unit for elk hunting.

Drawn tags are for the unit(s) that are shown on the tag. Over the counter tags are usually not unit specific. I have not hunted that area but have been next to it. Beautiful country that can be tough. Has been a good many years since I hunted that area and am not sure what the numbers are like there anymore. We saw a good many elk, just nothing legal. Good luck.

It's a tough hunt, first bit of pressure the elk drop off the the fields on the East side and into Soap Park on the West and you're really limited to trying to cut them off headed to private or finding really small groups of stragglers in the West Elks.
