I have an opportunity to buy a used Savage model 110 FXP3 30.06 with a composite stock and a Simmons 3x9 scope. It does not have the accutrigger, pretty much plain Jane, it's in fair shape. I could not find anything online as to the manufacture date. What would be a fair price for this rifle?

Look at some of the on line distributors... these will be NIB guns. If you buy from a Texas based Dist you'll pay the 8.25% Sales Tax + whatever the shipping and Credit Card fees if any, too. Have the gun shipped to a FFL Dealer near you & pay a FFL Transfer Fee that they set, ...but Ex: @ Whitakers in Ownensboro KY you can buy right now a Howa Lightning in blue/syn stock for $339.99. Howa also makes Weatherby Vanguards in the same gun, only a little dressier looking.

I also have bought new guns from Bud's, also in Kentucky and really like their prompt professional service. They usually pay the freight too, and be sure to look for the green button below the price to see if they are willing to deal a little bit.

CDNN in Abilene TX is good folks, but they only sell factoy closeouts that they have bought in discontinued lots of inventory, and when THAT item is sold out, they cannot reorder to get another one at that price...but been known to have some steals of a deal too. Study their inventory verrry closely and know what you are looking at.

Lots of others on the Web too, so keep looking if you don't find what you want.

FWIW I use Gun Broker to see if a local price on an item I'm thinking about buying is competitve on a used gun, and have bought several from GB over the years at really good pricing when a local dealer is tired of carrying an item and wants to "cash it out" pdq. go see if you can find a TC Venture right now in a caliber you like, and then look hard that the Thompson Center Home Page for a complete description of the Venture Series, and how it stacks up against a Savage 110, that is out of production. Read the GB Rules until you understand them, or ask ??'s on here until you do, and you'll do fine.

OBTW GLC's $250-$300 Value Estimate on the Savage 110 is about right "depending on a gunsmiths inspections"...but at that price range I might keep looking for something newer and/or with a better scope. JMHO

Basically look at Wiley's post. You have $300 to spend but for $100 more you might could get more for your money. Jmo. Looks like others have stated its value of fair price

OK I'm gonna spill the beans on something I've been watching...CDNN has ... One Unos Eins...I Say Again, for any of the swabbies out there only a single item of each in the best buy in an inexpensive rifle, according to every thing I read on multiple Forums, left in a discontinued Marlin XS7 in 243 @ $269 & the last new Marlin XS7 7-08 @ $279 I know of anywhere. Mulitple respondents have told me that the Marlin X Series is the very best clone of a Savage Model 10 that was ever built, complete with the small jobbydo on the chamber end of the barrel that allows Savage M10 barrels to interchange with them DIY, within receiver length. Just think of it as...Leggo Rifles for Big Boys...

I missed the closeout Steal of a Deal last year when the last of the Stainless guns were blown out at ummm $270'ish & $13 bux shipping as I recall in just a few days.

These CDNN guns are the matte Blued metal work, a black synthetic stock, with a Pic rail already installed to make it easypeasy to mount a scope....and an adjustable Savage styled trigger too.

Every one I've read sez these guns feel just like a Remmy 700ADL - they have a Remmy bolt handle, and a blind box 5 round magazine....and shoot bugholes with factory ammo....if'n ya can believe anything said on the I Net...but I saw pics of one guys collection of more than few X guns I'm jealous of. Snooze Ya Looze is my middle name again.

Ya'll have fun, I'm gonna go another route... mebbe...and see what I can find to steal in Ruger 77's Stainless guns that are discontinued, before these too are ALL Gone ByeBye.

The scope isn't worth anything, don't factor it in when deciding what to pay. I've mounted scopes on some pre-AccuTrigger Savages and they seem as well made as the current ones. If it had a wood stock I might be willing to come closer to the asking price. As is I would offer $200.00 tops. For me it would need a trigger job or a Timney which would add to the total cost.

The rifle also uses a different rear base than the current model.
