What is the best/easiest/longest lasting bow stand seat that could be welded to a tripod? Just curious to see what everyone uses as we were using plastic molded seats but are thinking about going with a more comfortable cushioned boat seat just not sure how long it would last...

Thanks,

We make our own stands and seats with added foam padding....then we cover them with rubber roofing material. Critters don't chew on them and weather won't harm them.

We have always just used the molded seats. If you go cushion, get something that does not make any noise as the air goes in and out. When you move they will bust you in a heart beat.

I have one that I built and one that we modified a tripod. On both, I used a cushioned boat seat. One is 7 years old and the other is 2. Both still work great.

As a side note, we mounted the seat to the bearing and bracket that a tripod seat is typically attached too. I like the mobility.

Millenium makes boat seats that you can put in any boat seat bracket. Seems like that would be a really comfortable tripod seat.

Have a couple double wide ladder stands that seats have deteriorated and needed reupholstered. Challenge was to replace them with something that was comfortable to sit on, weather proof, and critter proof. Started with plywood base, with a layer of foam, covered with rubber roofing membrane. Simple to do, use membrane adhesive and maybe a nail or two.

Nice job Rembrandt. I would of used a little thicker foam, of course I'm old not to much padding on my arse.
