No fight or intentional misleading here Gary, just curious as to what the responses would be from others. It seems interesting to me that so many have weighed in on the topic and really no direct conclusion or answer. At least it seems that way to me.... Take care

So this actually wasn't an opinion poll?

I know you were not trying to start a fight but I could not pass up the opportunity to tease my Friend. Hope all is well in North Texas and it is really cooling off nicely down here, especially for August.
Adios,
Gary

I would say day time takes more skill and here is why I say that. No elevated high rack, not as good of a shooting rest when sitting on the ground. When ground hunting you have to find the right spot blend in and when night hunting you are always hidden to some point. A great night time hunting spot is not necessarily a great day time spot, but I do think a great day time spot is always a good night time spot as well.

I was trying to be politically correct in my answer but the cover of darkness also covers a lot of mistakes.

I have hunted with folks(not recently) who actually did not really believe I could call and kill coyotes in the day time as they had only been successful at night. After a week-end they were surprised at how many mistakes they were making and it actually made them better night time hunters.

After participating in video's of night hunting vs daytime its way easier to get good footage at night than in the daylight.

Day time Is better.

Yes it takes skill, but you are on a more even playing field with the coyote.
That coyote can see way better than you in the dark even with a light.
And the use of a good spotter dog just ups your chances.

I don't have any pennies or I'd throw them down right here.

Started predator calling in 1976 and at that time it was day hunting. When I moved I found out that hardly any daytime calling here since very few coyotes here at that time. Lots of grey and red fox so had to learn how to hunt at night. As most of you know predator hunting has changed. The biggest change is the lost art of hand calling. Also, I bet many of you stood in back of a pickup truck as your "night hunting stand". Eventually worked into seats on a raised platform and so on. For me daytime coyote calling is still an adrenaline rush. Seeing critters hauling it to you full speed is amazing. I'm still an old hand call user and to make the sound that entices a coyote and occasionally cat to come running during the day is great feeling of accomplishment. I enjoy hunting alone but enjoy taking younger generation to show them the tricks. My greatest accomplishment by my self is 15 coyotes in one day (none shot during the night). Bobcats totally different with better luck at night. Boils down to however you like to hunt.
