Have shot one, fun little round. If you plan on reloading it search about the issues for that. A friend bought a 5.7 upper after shooting my PS-90.
Ballistic wise the 5.7X28 from a carbine is a modern version of a 22 Hornet

I don't understand the appeal at all Basically, you're shooting "5.56 -P-" for a 50% markup over 5.56. If you're using an AR upper, then you're not getting a smaller package either. If you want to spend your money? I guess go ahead, but it's completely pointless from my pov

Its a badarse round if you can afford it. I have shot the AR57 a few times and it has no kick at all but it is too expensive to shoot.

According to the link it is FN ammo and on sale, once it is off sale it will go back to $25/50. We can buy a huge choice of .223/5.56 at that price. And the .223 will have more impressive ballistics. JMO

Get a .22lr upper if "no kick at all" is your decision-making criterion? At least that's cheap! It's about the cheapest stuff you'll find, on sale for .36/rnd and is normally .50/rnd. That's NOT cheap for .223/5.56! You can reload .223 too. There's nothing that 5.7 does AS WELL AS .223, and it does so at a large cost markup.

I had one a few years back and it was a bad arse gun. It was fun to shoot but that was the time all the Ammo was hard to get and if you did it was expensive. I bought some and then I decided to trade it for a shotgun. I still have a 57 pistol and still don't shoot it much. Things will change when I get my suppesor. But if you want it but it. Academy has a lot of the Ammo on their shelves and a lot easier to find now.

As far as how the round works on varmints. with the PS-90 which shoots the same round I have used it on coyotes, raccoons, squirrel, jack rabbits and turkeys. It will cleanly take critters up to coyote from my experience. -+*

I could shoot a coke bottle plastic top at 100 yards. I just had a Nikon 3-9-40 scope on it. Nothing special. I just did not shoot it that much and I traded it for a o/u shotgun that I used a whole lot more. Running 50 rounds down the barrel was fun. If I could find the right deal on another, I would buy another.

I never shot any animals with it so I can't be any help there. But I'm sure it would do just fine.

Just be aware that due to the magazine location, irons or red dot are probably your limit for optics.

Have pics of the set up? One I shot (not owned by me) had a real short optic that still had to be set back a ways to be able to change mags without a struggle.
